Description

When service users have more than one protected characteristic, the issues they experience and the solutions they require can be complex. This can create difficulties for service providers if we are not prepared. This interactive training session will explore the intersections of LGBTI with ethnicity and disability in particular as examples of how intersectional approaches to work can be used to make life easier for both service providers and service users. The session includes a film of personal testimonies from diverse intersectional LGBTI people, will walk through seven key practical principles, and will include case studies to explore how intersectionality can be put into practice in your own services. Previous participants have described the training as “very enjoyable” and “eye opening”. The training will be delivered by Sam Rankin, the Intersectional Equalities Co-ordinator at the Equality Network.
